[1] Will I know her?
She walks calmly, assuredly
In my direction.
I watch the smile form on her lips
Those lips so warm and inviting
Yet somehow distant,
Out of reach, out of bounds.
Will I know her?
I can smell her.
She sits next to me, quietly,
Effortlessly rousing my senses.
Her scent intoxicates me
Both placating and inspiring
The passion deep inside.
My heart is pounding.
Will I know her?
I can feel her.
She stirs and our legs touch.
A shock runs through me,
Nerve ends reeling in its path,
Head spinning in its wake,
Mind racing in its aftermath.
Does she notice? Does she care?
Will I know her?
I can love her.
She listens to my calling,
Welcomes my embrace,
Such glorious reward,
Like a sinner finding grace,
I grasp the nettle, take up the sword.
She noticed. She cares.
Will I know her?
I wrote this poem for my wonderful wife Kerrianne when we were courting over the internet while she was in Australia and I was in Scotland.
